Spiritual Direction

Providing support for your spiritual growth
"No one's spiritual practice is like anyone else's. Life meets each of us where we need to be met, leading us to the doors with our names on them" Barbara Brown Taylor
Welcome! I'm glad your curiosity about spiritual direction has led you here!
Spiritual direction is a way to deepen your relationship with God. It is about discovering who God is inviting you to become and how you respond to that invitation.

My role as a spiritual director is to provide a safe and confidential space where you can speak what's in your heart without fear of judgment. It is an opportunity for you to explore your spiritual life. It is a time to "listen" to your life - your true self, your relationships, your faith, your wounds and longings - and to discern God's voice and presence in the midst of it all.

I am able to meet with you in person on Thursdays and Fridays at the Well of Mercy Retreat Center, located at
181 Mercy Lane in Hamptonville, NC. (www.wellofmercy.org) Any other day of the week I can meet with you virtually on Zoom.

The chambered nautilus shell is a lovely metaphor for our own spiritual growth.
This little sea creature begins its life in the tiny chamber at the center of the shell. As it grows, each chamber becomes too small, forcing the nautilus to build a new, larger chamber for itself. It cannot return to its previous chambers, because they no longer fit, and it cannot remain in its present chamber, or it will die. So as it grows, it has no choice but to move on, creating ever larger spaces for itself, for as long as it lives.
The spiral shape of the shell recalls infinity and suggests that there is no final chamber, therefore growth never ends. The shape of the shell also resembles an ear, representing the essence of spiritual direction, which is to LISTEN!
